Facial Hair

In the studio the other day, we experimented with facial hair. We tried stubble, and a full on hairy beard, however in my opinion i thought the stubble looked the most realistic. Attention has to be used when matching the colours, i.e to the eyebrows and hair colour.

Ellisha

Im so glad i have my models for this project. I was so lucky that Ellisha came into one of our shoots to photograph, and she agreed on using her as my model. She is perfect. Her nose ring is also a big bonus.  Her skin is flawless and as soon as i saw her i knew she would be the right person for this shoot.

COLOUR

To be honest, i have a thing about colour, i LOVE bright things, clothes, lipstick, shoes, makeup, everything. I want one of my final images to stand out and be really colourful, and i hope to use fluorescent or neon paint on the face to create an eye-catching image. I have been researching into some  fashion editorials which have a tribal theme, and here are a few that stood out due to the colours used, either in the styling or the makeup.

Bald Caps

In the practical class the other day, we practiced placing bald caps on one another, and to be honest, its so much hard work, and i dread to think what it will be like with only one pair of hands.
I learnt that spraying pink on the bald cap takes out the dark hair that can be seen through the bald cap.
Firstly the hair had to be soaking wet, and if long, parted into two sections. Then one section was placed over one side, and the other crossed over on top of it.
All the hair should then be covered in gel, obviously a strong holding one, and all the baby hairs should be gelled back, so absolutely no hair can be seen. Please remember, that this is my first attempt, and i hope to improve.

La Mujer Vampiro

Whilst being in Spain watching the news, i came across this woman and thought she fits perfectly inside this project. The mexican tattoo star Maria Jose Cristerna, known as 'La mujer Vampiro' (Female Vampire) is famous for her body being covered 98% by tattoos, her prosthetic fangs and platinum inplants on her head and arms. She says the body modification project was a form of self-expression she sought after being the victim of domestic violence in a former marriage. Her story is amazing.

Here is a video of her:
Personally, i do not like how she looks, but do you know what, good for her, she expresses herself, she doesnt care what anyone says, she enjoys life.
Its crazy to think that she is a mother of 4, and a former lawyer.

Welcome

I was lucky enough to be able to change choices this term, i was doing digital beauty, and realised it wasn't for me, so i changed to special effects. The assignment for this unit is called Brave New World, with the use of design of special effects makeup and prosthetics processes for a fashion led production. I am thinking of using the inspiration from what i have found, however add my own interpretation by using really bright neon colours, which as you know, i love.
The reason why i am excited for this project is the fact that i have planned to use 2 black models which will be my first time. I have one of my models in mind, one being female and the other male. I am looking forward to experimenting with a range of materials on the face and body, looking how implants, prosthetics, body art and scarification can change the body, and also looking into tribal cultures.
